Cherie Shelton attended Mankato State University and graduated in 1995 with a degree in International Relations. She has previous experience working in a church as well as in various other office settings, including a real estate brokerage, a bank, a university international student center, and a print production business.

Cherie lives in Lakeville with her husband and their two adult children. She grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin. Cherie and her husband enjoy hiking together, admiring waterfalls, kayaking, and cycling.

In her free time, Cherie loves to study foreign languages, including French, Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew. She enjoys cooking and loves to host dinner parties for her friends. She also loves to read, play the piano, and compose new piano music.
