7:00-8:00 a.m. Extended Care/Free Choice ~ Parents have the ability to sign-up for early extended time. The children arriving during this time will be given breakfast, if they haven't eaten at home. Children will have Free Choice of activtites around the classroom.
8:00-8:30 a.m. Table Time ~ As the children arrive for preschool time, all children will be at the tables engaged in small group activities such as games, writing activities and small motor activities. This gives the children a chance to greet their friends and chat before school starts.
8:30-9:00 a.m. Opening Time/Jesus Time ~ The children gather on the carpet area for singing, calendar and weather. These activities help reinforce counting and letter recognition. We will have Jesus Time focusing on a specific Bible story of the week. This may be done through a story, songs, finger plays, dramatic retelling, puppets and flannel board stories. The first Wednesday/Thursday of each month, the preschool children attend Chapel. This gives the children a connection with Christ Lutheran Church.
9:00-10:00 a.m. Circle Time/Theme; Free Choice ~ We have a theme that the teachers can talk specifically about such as colors, fall, winter, shapes, authors, etc. The teachers will explore with the children more in-depth on the theme using discussions, books and pictures. Also during this time, the children will be able to explore the different centers around the classroom according to their interests. The children will engage in pre-math, pre-reading, pre-language, science, writing and art activities in small or large groups.
10:00-10:20 a.m. Snack Time ~ The children will learn simple meal time prayers to say/sing during this time and then enjoy a healthy snack. During snack time, the children are able to visit with their friends at the tables.
10:20-10:35 a.m. Literature TIme ~ The children gather on the carpet area for a book read, usually associated with the week's theme.
10:35-11:15 a.m. Large Muscle TIme ~ We will go outside every day, weather permitting. We typically go on the playground, but may play games in the large grass area west of the church. If it is raining or too hot/cold outside, we will use the Fellowship Hall for some large muscle activities.
11:15-11:40 a.m. Free Choice ~ Children will be given a second opportunity to explore the centers in the classroom.
11:40-12:00 p.m. Music Time/Dismissal ~ Children will engage in a variety of music choices whether it be in song or with instrutments. The morning preschool children will be picked up from the classroom while the extended day children will pray and proceed to lunch time.
12:00-12:30 p.m. Lunch Time ~ The children staying for the extended day will eat lunch. Parents provide a sack lunch from home. Parents are asked to make sure the children have four nutritional components (protein, grain, fruit, vegetable). We provide milk.
12:30-1:15 p.m. Table Activities/Circle Time ~ As the children finish their lunch, they may engage in a table activity or game until everyone is finished. The children will then engage in a Circle TIme activity on the carpet. It may be theme discussion, pre-reading, pre-math, pre-language activity, music/movement and/or literature.
1:15-2:30 p.m. Rest Time ~ Children will be assigned a specific cot for Rest Time. Small blankets and pillows may be brought from home. (No large quilts/bed pillows will be allowed.) Children who are still awake after having rested quietly for 30 minutes will be allowed to get up and work at the tables.
2:30-2:50 p.m. Snack Time ~ Children will enjoy a healthy snack while visiting with their friends at the tables.
2:45-3:45pm Free Choice/Small Groups ~ Children will once again have the opportunity to explore the centers in the classroom. Small groups may be utilized for futher instruction.
3:45-4:15 p.m. Outside Play/Large Muscle ~ Children will go outside, weather permitting. If it is raining or too hot/cold, the children will go in the Fellowship Hall for movement and/or other large muscle activities.
4:15-5:00 p.m. Table Time/Dismissal ~ The children will be able to enjoy fine motor activities at the tables, such as cutting, writing, coloring or games.
